A few years ago I watched the performance of Mikhail Zadornov with his monologue «It was getting dark», which I really liked and could not get it out of my mind. Then I decided that I would definitely write something on the same wavelength. But a suitable life situation did not come. And this New Year, at the festive table, one of the guests told a very funny and cautionary tale. It became the plot of this book.

Hace unos años vi la actuación de Mikhail Zadornov con su monólogo “Estaba anocheciendo”, que realmente me gustó y no podía sacarlo de mi mente. Entonces decidí que definitivamente escribiría algo del mismo estilo. Pero no me pasaba ninguna situación vital correspondiente. Y ese Año Nuevo, durante la cena de celebración, uno de los invitados había contado la historia muy divertida que se convirtió en la trama de este libro.

This is a fairy tale about a girl named Alice, who was brought into a fairyland by a hurricane — there lived good elves, fireflies and gnomes. But she really missed her parents and dreamed of returning home.

This series of tests of levels A1—C1 is recommended for schoolchildren, students of language faculties, as well as for a wide range of people studying English. All tests are differentiated by complexity and have keys (correct answers).

The book presents tests for checking the knowledge of the basics of English grammar: the Simple Group Tenses (Present Simple Tense, Past Simple Tense, Future Simple Tense); indefinite and definite article, prepositions, construction of negative and interrogative sentences, tense of the English verb in the conditional subordinate sentences of the 1st type. The story is written in a humorous genre. Two childhood friends and writers, named Albert Veselovsky and Methodius Ponebatko, decide to change life in a dusty, gassed city for a quiet existence in a small village with a poetic name, and become mushroom pickers.
